Collaborate with Investigators at BMSC

BMSC is committed to providing resources to collaborative research groups in the areas of marine ecology, evolutionary biology, comparative physiology, molecular and cell biology, neuroscience, marine botony, developmental and reproductive biology, conservation biology, physical and chemical oceanography and rainforest ecology.

Please inform the of your intentions with regards to collaborative research and requirements for your research activities approximately six months before your arrival at BMSC. This not only gives BMSC adequate time to prepare for your arrival but it also allows researchers in the collaborative groups to foresee specialized equipment, facility and organism requirements that could be provided by BMSC or brought by themselves to the Centre for their studies.

Currently, BMSC supports collaborative research in the fields of Northern Abalone Restoration and Fish Physiology.

Northern Abalone Restoration - This project, "Integrating ecological research and hatchery operations for the restoration of the threatened northern abalone Haliotis kamtschatkana", is funded by a NSERC Strategic Project Grant to , and . The research project has two major goals: 1) optimize culture conditions prior to outplanting 2) improve outplanting strategies for rebuilding wild populations.

Recent Publications and Conference Presentations:

The Collaborative Association of Fish Physiologists at BMSC extends an invitation to all scientists wishing to participate and carry out research with members of the association.

The collective membership of this association, composed of investigators from Canada, the United States of America and Europe has published over twenty articles in the last three years from work completed at BMSC. This association of collaborative scientists has also attracted investigators working on other systems and animals, thus growing in size.
