Stewardship and Community Projects

Community outreach programs raise awareness about species at risk and ecosystems on Vancouver Island's west coast.

BMSC staff develop school curricula and outreach materials, and also travel to communities and present people with information that will help them to be aware of what is happening in their local waters and how to prevent further impacts to the marine ecosystem.

We also go to public events, such as Tall Ships Day and Oceans Day, Pacific Rim Whale Festival, and set up activities for children so they can learn more about the environment and endangered species.
