Step 5: Confirm reservation by paying deposit

How much is the deposit?

For groups sizes under 20, we require a deposit of $100/day.

For groups sizes of 20 and over we require a deposit of $200/day.

When is the deposit due?

Immediately upon being offered booking dates. Your spot is not guaranteed until the deposit is paid. Do not send this fee until we have notified you of your booking dates.

The deposit due deadline is December 1 for spring groups, February 1 for summer visits and June 1 for fall field trips.

How do I pay the deposit?

By cheque or money order sent in the mail (address below), or by credit card (VISA or MASTERCARD) over the phone.
To pay by credit card, call our main office between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday to Friday at 250-728-3301, ext. 221 or 211.

Under what circumstances can I have my deposit refunded?

This deposit is refundable only if cancellation occurs 90 days prior to your trip, if BMSC is closed due to impassable roads, infrastructure failure, or a labour dispute.

The Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre is in a remote setting where access can be interrupted by environmental conditions. Similarly, facilities may not be available due to power outages or other infrastructure failure. The facility could also be unavailable in the event of a labour dispute. BMSC will gladly refund deposits made on trips cancelled for these reasons, but is not responsible for other expenses incurred.
