Fundraising: Oceans of Art

Oceans of Art is a fund raising collaboration between Art and Science. Artists inspired at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre are contributing work for sale, and non-gallery proceeds will provide bursaries for schools to participate in BMSC's Public Education Program.

A group of 35 artists from the Federation of Canadian Artists participated in the 2nd Oceans of Art retreat in January 2009, at the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre.

Building on the success of the inaugural Oceans of Art in 2005, the event was again designed to raise funds for the Public Education Program at BMSC. Artists donate a piece of work created from the retreat and the proceeds continue to build a bursary fund to support school field trips to BMSC.

Artwork is now available for viewing and sale at the
Rix Centre for Ocean Discoveries, BMSC

The proceeds of artwork sold from the Oceans of Arts Gallery go towards the BMSC Public Education Program’s bursary fund. Teachers of students requiring financial assistance are invited to contact in the Public Education Program for further information.

Alternatively, to assist entire classes with their BMSC Field Trip fundraising efforts, a piece of Oceans of Art work can be donated to them to use for a fundraising activity. Participating classes are asked to please acknowledge the contributing artist in a local press release. Interested teachers are invited to contact the Public Education Program for further information.
